The Boxer follows Yu, an emotionless and apathetic seventeen-year-old who has spent his life as a punching bag for bullies, seemingly "dead inside" due to a traumatic past. His life changes when he is scouted by K, a legendary and morally bankrupt boxing coach who has trained five world champions. K sees in Yu’s "empty eyes" a terrifying, god-given talent: a perception of time so refined that the world moves in slow motion, and a natural athleticism that makes him a literal monster in the ring.

As Yu systematically dismantles every opponent put in front of him, the story shifts its focus. Rather than just being about Yu's wins, the series deep-dives into the backstories and philosophies of his opponents—men who have worked their entire lives for a dream, only to face an insurmountable "natural disaster" in the form of Yu.
