Overly Ferocious of Being Cautious (famously known as Cautious Hero) follows Rista, a novice Goddess who is tasked with saving the world of Gaeabrande—a world with an "S-Rank" difficulty level. Desperate to succeed, she summons a hero with legendary stats named Seiya Ryuuguin. However, she soon discovers that Seiya has a major personality quirk: he is "abnormally" cautious.

Seiya refuses to enter any dungeon or fight any monster until he has spent weeks training, even if it means doing thousands of pushups to defeat a low-level slime. He buys three sets of armor (one to wear, a spare, and a spare for the spare) and uses his most devastating "ultimate" attacks on weak enemies just to be 100% sure they are dead.
